Dining Room Design Ideas

Hello, friends! What a fun launch weekend this has been! Thank you again for all of your likes, shares, shout outs, and support!

Today I wanted to walk you through one of the first rooms we are going to update – the dining room! As we shared on Instagram stories, we love the hand painted wallpaper and are excited to incorporate it into our design.

The first thing we did after closing on the house was start by pulling down some very dated window treatments. I appreciate the power of a good curtain when it comes to making a room look “finished”, but by and large, I’m a naked window kind of gal. I need alllll the light coming in, and the way this house is positioned, it is pretty secure from folks seeing in, unless they are directly up on our property.

So over the weekend, these windows went from this:

To this…

(Now, if I had been smart, I would have taken these two photos from the same angle and you would be able to see how much lighter the room is, but no one is accusing me of being smart.)

In the next couple of weeks we will start painting the wainscot and the ceiling. We chose Sherwin Williams Iron Ore for this. We used this color extensively in the remodel of our current home and absolutely love it. It’s a dark neutral grey, but it goes navy in the right light, which I’m a big fan of. Painting the ceiling this dark, moody color will bring the room in a little – making it feel more intimate and formal. It will also allow our brushed brass light fixture to really stand out.

I am so excited to get this room going. I think it’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to start having family dinners in there and hosting all the parties once social distancing becomes a thing of the past! (Which also cannot happen soon enough.)

Next time I hope to show you some inspiration pieces for our current projects and what we have planned for the entryway! Until then, have an amazing week and stay well!
